FocusZen Challenge – Teacher Edition

FocusZen Challenge was created through the shared work of a mother and her 12-year-old AuDHD son. The idea grew from everyday conversations, observations, and a simple goal: to encourage children to think, talk, and work together.

Teacher Edition was designed for teachers, schools, therapists, and anyone working with children. It is an educational resource that can be used to support lessons, group activities, and one-to-one learning.

What's included?

Each set contains 60 cards.

Every card includes 2 different challenges, allowing children to choose one or leave the decision to chance. Even when they know all the cards, every game can be different.

A5 Format

The A5 version was designed for working with groups.

The larger cards are easy for the whole class to see, so teachers don't need to pass them around. They can be used during lessons, group activities, pair work, or as a short warm-up or end-of-class activity.

A6 Format

The A6 version is designed for one-to-one work or small groups.

It is ideal for therapists, speech and language therapists, teachers, teaching assistants, psychologists, and parents working with children at home. The smaller format is easy to use during individual sessions and around a table.

How can the cards be used?

There is no single "right" way to use them.

Teachers, therapists, and parents can decide how the cards best fit their own activities.

They can be used for:

• lesson warm-ups,

• end-of-lesson activities,

• pair work,

• small group activities,

• whole-class challenges,

• communication activities,

• teamwork exercises,

• creative thinking,

• conversation starters,

• educational games.

Every group of children is different, so we believe the people working with them know best how to use the cards.

Why did we create FocusZen Challenge?

We believe learning doesn't have to mean sitting at a desk all the time.

Sometimes one simple question or a short challenge can encourage a child to talk, think, and take part more than a long explanation.

A few days ago, my son and I were waiting for our meal at The Meeting Place café in Peasedown St John. We played a few rounds together and had a great time. Before we left, we decided to leave the cards there so that other children could enjoy playing with them too.

That's how FocusZen Challenge was created—from a simple idea, everyday experiences, and time spent together as a family.
